Saudi Arabia\u2019s Vision 2030 positions innovation at its core. The Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA), established in 2019, oversees the National Strategy for Data & AI (NSDAI), aiming to make Saudi a global AI leader by 2030 (Arab News<\/a>, Forbes<\/a>).<\/p>\n

By then, AI is expected to contribute $235 billion\u2014or 12.4% of GDP (Arab News<\/a>). The Fast Company\u2013cited target is 2.5% of GDP devoted annually to R&D and innovation by 2040\u2014with significant ramp-up anticipated in the coming five years (Fast Company<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Project Transcendence & \u201cSovereign AI\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Central to this ambition is Project Transcendence, a $100 billion effort to build sovereign AI infrastructure and home-grown models through the PIF-backed company Humain (Barron’s<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Humain has secured partnerships with Nvidia, AMD, Qualcomm, Amazon Web Services, and others and is developing multimodal Arabic LLMs as well as major data centers (Wikipedia<\/a>).<\/p>\n

3. Startup Growth & Venture Ecosystem<\/strong><\/p>\n

Saudi\u2019s startup scene is thriving: over 240 AI-focused companies were active in 2023, raising more than $1.7 billion (Arab News<\/a>). Government-backed funds like SVC and Jada are accelerating VC and angel investor momentum (Sharikat Mubasher<\/a>).<\/p>\n
